Dating on a Budget: The University Students Guide to Dating in Toronto
Canadian Opera Company Free Concert Series
Whenever I walk on University Avenue, near Queen Street, I am always in awe by the glass façade of the Four Season Centre for the Performing Arts. I have been privileged to attend a number of shows at this venue and my favourite part of each visit is peering out the wall of windows. Looking at the city lights, the weather beacon on top of the Canada Life Building and the people walking below makes me feel like I’m in a movie.
Now this wall of windows is located in a portion of the centre known as the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre. Like an amphitheatre the area has staircase like seating which serves as a beautiful place to sit down with a drink, stare out the window as you wait for a show or the end of an intermission and finally a perfect place to flirt with somebody.
However, this post is not about architecture, but the free concert series that the Canadian Opera Company holds in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre on Tuesday and Thursday at noon and on some Wednesdays at noon or 5:30 p.m. Bring a date and experience the Canadian Opera Company’s dance, jazz, vocal world music, chamber music and piano virtuoso series. Below I have embedded the link to the schedule so you can explore your various options.
Now this date is perfect for students who go to Ryerson University or the University of Toronto, because the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts is relatively close in proximity. This is a great date and at a perfect time because noon is usually lunch hour for many students and interns. Plus I remember never really starting any of my classes until 2 p.m. anyways. However, if you do have classes at noon then take advantage of those occasional 5:30 p.m. concerts on Wednesday.
It may be the fact that I went to an art high school, but there is something about art that I find romantic. There is something about the movement of a dance piece, the sound of a violin and flute as well as the harmony of voices that just captures your soul and does something to the atmosphere.
I think this is a perfect date idea because you got a great building, view of the city and the arts. If you have a special someone and you both need a break between class or want to do something before you have to hit the books then this is the right date for you.
Happy Dating Toronto.
